The two-year training school of brief strategic therapy is a specialised training based primarily on the direct observation of clinical cases and on the supervision and training on the techniques and strategies of clinical intervention provided by Giorgio Nardone. It offers participants the opportunity to learn the advanced model of brief strategic therapy, which is the outcome of the research and clinical practice conducted by our institute. The latter allowed the continuous evolution of the model in terms of “construction” of new effective and efficient therapy protocols, as well as the formulation of an advanced form of technique to make the first and the following sessions effectively therapeutic.
The goal of this program is to provide experienced colleagues a path to increase their therapeutic efficacy and efficiency through an intensive learning of the operational logic and of the advanced techniques of this approach, with a focus on the specific treatment protocols of the major psychopathologies.
The teaching methodology of the School is based on “learning by doing”, that is, it focuses on experiential aspects to provide a practical training on the model with its different techniques and clinical applications. The program is divided into interdependent and integrated areas that expand on the process of brief strategic therapy in its four stages of intervention by focusing on the strategies, tactics and techniques developed to break the rigidity of the perceptual-reactive system that is at the base of the various pathologies. The learning process of the strategic approach to therapy consists of a guided full immersion into the specific treatment protocols using video recordings of clinical cases, theoretical lessons side by side with exercises and real practice through co-therapy and the observation of therapies performed by Giorgio Nardone. In each lesson, students are constantly supervised by a teacher-tutor, who, at the end of each session, comments on the case to highlight the strategies and techniques used. This is followed by the observation, discussion and analysis of the clinical case with Giorgio Nardone on the provided treatment.
Materials provided by the centre:
- videos of lectures, workshops and seminars on the main pathologies;
- over 20,000 hours of psychological counselling and therapy carried out from the first to the last session;
- books, manuals and handouts;
- psychological testing and assessment tools.
